Dear Mrs. Lewis & Family, My wife, Elaine, and I were saddened to read of Dr. Lewis’ passing in the Inquirer today. We were newly married in early 1960’s and lived on Karen Drive, near your home and Dr. Lewis’s office. We had three sons that Dr. Lewis treated on a much too regular basis. I am glad he didn’t run out of stitching material. Anytime we had a problem, we would call and he would say, “wrap him up and bring him here”. We asked him to be the pediatrician for our second son, Andy, who was born at CCH. When he was born, he had hyaline membrane disease and a collapsed lung. Dr. Lewis went to CCH about 3AM when my son was in distress and called in a pediatric specialist. It took two weeks for my son to heal and come home. Elaine and I have always credited Dr. Lewis for saving my sons life. Today, Andy is 49 , married and has three children. We continued to see Dr. Lewis until you moved from Malvern. He was the last Dr. that would make a “house call”. He was an exceptional Doctor and gentleman, down to earth and most competent. It is indeed rare to find a doctor like Clifford Lewis in today’s world. Robert Costagliola
