Annie Laurie (Chester) Eggers, formerly a long-time resident of Spring Lake, NJ, passed peacefully on March 13, 2016 at Sunnyside Manor, Wall, NJ, surrounded by her loving family.
Annie Laurie was born on May 5, 1926 to Sadie and Josiah Chester. She was raised in Adelphia, NJ, graduated from Freehold High School, and received her R.N. degree from Ann May School of Nursing in Neptune, NJ, while in the Naval Nurse Cadet Corp. during World War II. After the war, Annie Laurie became a head nurse at Fitkin Hospital and taught nursing board classes. She married Dr. Fred Eggers in 1953 and moved to Spring Lake, NJ, soon thereafter. Annie Laurie was loved and respected by all her patients and student nurses, but she gave up her career/calling to become a full-time Mom in 1957, her greatest calling of all.
Annie Laurie is predeceased by her husband, Fred, in 2006, two sons: Glenn in 1986 and Kevin in 1961, and her parents. She is survived by her loving daughters, Lynne and her husband Fred, Kim and her husband Fritz; her grandchildren, Matt, Morgan and her husband Shane, and Devon; her sister-in-law Mary; her niece Diane and husband Jack; her nephew Jim and his wife Terri and their families as well as many other relatives.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, March 19, from 11 AM until the time of the service at 2:15 PM at the O'Brien Funeral Home, 2028 Hwy 35 at New Bedford Rd., Wall. Burial will follow in Greenwood Cemetery, Brielle, NJ. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in her memory to St. Andrew’s United Methodist Church, 907 4th Avenue, Spring Lake, NJ 07762.
