George R  Elmendorf
George R. Elmendorf, age 74, passed away on Saturday, January 14, 2017 at Ocean Medical Center in Brick, after a long courageous fight of various illnesses with his family by his side.

Born and raised in New York City, NY, George had lived in Lakewood, NJ as a teenager before moving to Brick, NJ where he has resided with his wife, Barbara, for the past 52 years.

George was a workaholic. He owned and operated Elmendorf Typewriter/Office Supplies in Point Pleasant for the past 49 years. When George wasn’t working, he enjoyed being a member of the Central Jersey Gun Club with his buddies, he loved to travel, especially taking Caribbean cruises. He thrived on US History, telling jokes to everyone and anyone he could but most of all his greatest joy was spending time with his loving family.

George is predeceased by his mother, Antoinette (DiMassi) DiScala, his father, Pasquale DiScala, his father George Elmendorf and his sister, Janet Caruso.

He is survived by the love of his life, Barbara Elmendorf. Also surviving are his daughters, Laurie Fairhurst and her husband Tom of Point Pleasant; and Toni Prestinari and her husband Tommy of Brick; his brothers, John Elmendorf and his wife Cherie of Toms River; and Rich Elmendorf and his wife Liz of Seldon, NY; his sister, Anne Cooleen of Valley Stream, LI; and his grandchildren, Justin “Mooch”, Caroline “Moochetta” and her husband Todd, Zachary “Big Guy” and Max “Little Fella”. He is also survived by a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.

Visitation will be on Wednesday, January 18, 2017 from 4-8 p.m. at O’Brien Funeral Home, 505 Burnt Tavern Rd., Brick. A Mass of Resurrection will be held on Thursday, January 19 at 12:00p.m. at Epiphany RC Church in Brick. Cremation is private.

In lieu of flowers, Memorial contributions can be made to National Kidney Foundation, Finance Department, 30 East 33rd St., New York, NY 10016.
