Kathryn C. Moran, 85, of Point Pleasant passed away peacefully at Ocean Medical Center in Brick on Tuesday, January 31, 2017 with her loving family at her bedside. Born and raised in Jersey City, she resided many years in Bayonne before relocating to Point Pleasant in 1979.
Mrs. Moran was predeceased by her husband, Captain Clarence J. Moran who died in the line of duty as a Bayonne Fire Captain on February 12, 1969. She was also predeceased by her sister, Lorraine Nelson in 2001.
Surviving are her son, Kevin Joseph Moran and his wife, Rosalie of Point Pleasant; four daughters, Kathy Gelchion and her husband, Michael of Shrewsbury, Patricia Moran of Texas, Sharon Moran of Brick and Maureen Bowles and her husband, Patrick of Hazlet; six grandchildren, Jennifer Perillo and her husband, John, Kevin Moran and his wife, Shauna, Kathleen Daly and her husband, Jim, Michael Gelchion, Jr., Brianna Bowles and Patrick Bowles; eight great grandchildren, Alexa, Samantha, Kendall, Madison, Kevin, Meghan, James Michael, and Keira Grace. She is survived by her sister, Joan McCormack and her husband, Bill of Fullerton, CA; many nieces and nephews; and her longtime companion, William Wyres of Point Pleasant.
Visiting will be on Friday from 4-8pm at the O’Brien Funeral Home, 505 Burnt Tavern Road, Brick. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday 12 noon at St. Peter’s RC Church, Point Pleasant Beach. Final interment will be held privately at Holy Name Cemetery, Jersey City along side her husband, Capt. Clarence Moran. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her name to Point Pleasant Boro First Aid and Emergency Squad.
