Daniel J. Mount, 70 of Manasquan and a longtime resident of Bloomfield passed away Tuesday, January 31, 2017 after a prolonged illness. He was brave, uncomplaining and accepting.

Danny was born in Elizabeth and resided in Bloomfield for 32 years before moving to Manasquan 13 years ago, where he loved being close to the ocean. He was an avid and proud lifelong Yankee fan from his head to his toes.
When his children were younger, he was a Cub Scout Leader and since he resided in Manasquan, he attended St. Peter’s RC Church, Point Pleasant Beach. Danny graduated from Immaculate Conception High School in Montclair where he was inducted into the Athletic Hall of Fame. He was the proprietor of O’Dowds Milk Bar in Pine Brook, worked at Lakeside Deli in Verona and Shoprite and Foodtown in North Jersey, and concluded his career as Deli Manager at Foodtown of Sea Girt. He was also a member of UFCW Local 464 –A, Little Falls for over 40 years.

Danny was predeceased by his parents John and Margaret Scanlon Mount, and his siblings Eileen Cunniff and Thomas Mount. He is survived by his devoted wife of 50 years Pamela Oswald Mount who he loved all of his life, his loving children, son Daniel W. Mount and Deidre and grandson Zack Sparrow, Fair Oaks, Cal. , son Christopher J. and Michelle Neslie Mount of Upper Black Eddy, Pa. and their 3 children Aidan, Abigail, and Austin, and daughter Megan E. Mount of Boston, Ma., his brothers John of Livingston, Robert and wife Marilyn of Whippany, his sister Rita Wehmeyer and husband Roy of Caldwell, and Pamela’s sisters Judith Walters and Janice Perih and husband Steve.

He was also so proud of his 16 nieces’ and nephews’ accomplishments. Danny was a caring soul who loved his children and grandchildren above measure, and was immensely loved and respected by his family and friends. “Dan the Man” was known for his “Dannyisms,” his sense of humor and his kind demeanor.
