Obituary for Charles F. Dugan

Charles F.  Dugan
Charles F. Dugan, 98, of Spring Lake, passed away on Tuesday, March 21, 2017.
Mr. Dugan was born and raised in Hoboken. He was a decorated Army veteran of WWII, having served as a radio operator in the European Theater. He then worked at Western Electric for 40 years, in charge of set-up equipment. After retiring, he lived with his daughter and her family in Old Bridge for many years, where he was very involved in raising his grandchildren. He enjoyed cooking and painting, and was a devout Catholic. Since 2010, he enjoyed living at The Arbors, in Spring Lake, which enabled him to be close to his great-grandchildren.
Mr. Dugan was predeceased by his beloved daughter Gaia Calabrese, as well as by his siblings, George and Lawrence Dugan, and Margaret Dee. He is survived by his grandchildren and their spouses, Anthony P. and Jennifer Calabrese, Lisa and Sam Rulli, and Patricia and Shawn Hickey. He is also survived by his great-grandchildren, Giuliana and Anthony J. Calabrese, Cienna, Luca and Emmalia Rulli, and Shawn, Amelia and Briella Hickey, as well as by his son-in-law, Anthony J. Calabrese.
Visitation will take place at O’Brien Funeral Home, 2028 Hwy. 35, Wall, on Thursday, March 23rd, from 4-8 PM. The funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Catharine’s Church, Spring Lake, on Friday, March 24th, at 9 AM, followed by burial at Holy Cross Cemetery, North Arlington. In lieu of flowers, donations in Mr. Dugan’s memory may be made to the St. Vincent DePaul Society, c/o St. Rose Church, 603 7th Avenue, Belmar, NJ 07719.
