Obituary for Violet R. Emery (Rous)

Violet Rous Emery died peacefully after a brief illness at the age of 92 during the evening of March 21st. She is survived by her husband of 72 years, Walter, 2 children, a niece and nephew, 2 grandchildren, and 7 grandnieces and grandnephews. She was the matriarch of a close family living on both coasts. She was born in New York City, graduated from the City Colleges of New York, and received a Masters degree in Education. She taught reading in the Montclair Public Schools for nearly 30 years. She was passionate about reading and the teaching of reading. She and Walter traveled the country camping in a VW Westphalia after their retirement. They both loved the ocean and walked the beaches in Sea Girt where they have lived for many years. Violet was deeply interested in people and had many friends. She will be missed by everyone her life touched. A private celebration of her life will be held for friends and family.
