Obituary for James Martin Flood

James Martin  Flood
James M. Flood, 86, passed away on Thursday, March 23, 2017 with his beloved family at his side in Wall Township. Jim was a wonderful husband, father, father-in-law, grandfather, great grandfather, son, brother, brother-in-law, uncle and cousin to a large extended family.
Jim was born in the Bronx, NY and graduated from Manhattan Prep High School and then Manhattan College. He met Nancy Klein while they both worked at Radio City Musical in NYC. Jim and Nancy got engaged shortly before the Army deployed Jim to Korea in 1952. Shortly after returning from Korea, Jim and Nancy were married in November 1954 and raised five children in Huntington, LI. Jim retired as a Senior Vice President at Bankers Trust Company in NYC in 1990 after a successful banking career.
Family meant everything to Jim and he is survived by his wife of 62 years, Nancy; his children Jim Flood (Joanne) of Merrick, NY; Kathleen Regan (Kevin) of DeBary, FL; Joan Lay (Mark) of Melville, NY; Nancy Flood (Frank Rich) of Hillsdale, NJ; and Mary Jane Pulzello (Fred) of Glen Rock, NJ; Grandchildren Jimmy, Kelly (Danny), Meghan, Katie, Patrick, Jillian, Sean, Danny, Freddie, Janey, and Tommy; and Great Grandson Finn. Jim was pre-deceased by his parents Martin and Kathleen “Racca”(McGrath) Flood and his brother Danny Flood.
Visitation will be on Monday from 5:00pm to 8:00pm at the O’Brien Funeral Home, 2028 Hwy 35., Wall followed by a Mass of Christian Burial on Tuesday, March 29, 2017 at 9:45am at the Church of St. Rose, 603 7th Ave., Belmar, NJ 07719. Interment with military honors will be in the Brigadier General William C. Doyle Veterans Memorial Cemetery.
