Condolence: Anne...sweet and gentle spirit...passing to the spirit world too soon. As I hear the sweet chirps of birds out my window today, I think of Anne and decades of conversations with my Mom, as she would fill me in on the family. My Mom had nothing but lovely things to tell me about Anne, just as are my memories of Anne too. We have memories to reflect upon, particularly when the chain has yet another missing link in what we knew was, but no longer is as we knew it to be. Philip, my cousin that I also love, I shed tears for you and your son, as I cannot imagine the burden upon your heart. Little but big Phillip, my 2nd cousin, your Mom was loved by many that you likely do not know. To all of her family, she was truly beautiful inside and out. Her spirit lives on free of all of the encumbrances, sadness, and pain in this physical world. We will all be together one day, and experience nothing but love and joy. However today, we are all left with cherished memories, and the weight of loss on our hearts. My sincerest condolences to all.

Condolence: It is with great sadness that I reflect on the memory of my sister-in-law, Anne, for her passing leaves a hole in the heart of this family. A family that will never be the same without her.

I knew Anne as a kind, gentle soul who stole my brother’s heart for life and ultimately fitting so well in becoming family. I recall her ease to chuckle at jokes being told, some funny, some not so much. An insiders comedic reference to out-laws versus in-laws. A tad fidgety at times, unnatural to sit still, and always anxious to start cleanup before anyone else really wanted to. At Christmas dinners the tradition she brought to the table was a favored banana cake and ambrosia. A tradition to be continued, in her name, each Christmas dinner that follows.

Today, as preparation for Anne’s memorial began, a poignant prayer came to light that seems so appropriate…

Broken Chain
We little knew that morning
that God would call your name.
In life we loved you dearly,
in death we do the same.

It broke our hearts to lose you,
you did not go alone;
for part of us went with you
the day God called you home.

You left us peaceful memories,
your love is still our guide,
and though we cannot see you,
you are always by our side.

Our family chain is broken
and nothing seems the same,
but as God calls us one by one...

the chain will link again.
