Obituary for Larry Robert Uretzky

Larry Robert Uretzky, 70, of Belmar, passed away peacefully on April 4, 2017, surrounded by his loving family. Born in Neptune, Larry was a lifelong resident of Belmar.
He was a proud veteran of the US Army serving a 13 month tour of duty in Vietnam. He married the love of his life Barbara (Coll) and together they lived in Belmar since 1970. Larry worked for General Electric for 34 years and retired in 2001. He was dedicated to his community, volunteering with the Union Fire Co. # 1 of Belmar since 1972, where he served as Captain. Larry was also a former member of the Belmar VFW. Larry was an avid reader, and enjoyed crossword puzzles. He loved spending the Fall and Winter months in Marco Island and Naples, Fla.
Larry was predeceased by his parents Leon (Jack) and Shirley Thompson Uretzky and sister Gail Carducci.
He is survived by his loving wife, Barbara; son Steven & wife Sharone of Wall; daughter Kim Vopelius & husband Richard of Belmar; and three grandchildren who he loved more than anything – Nicole Uretzky, Rylee Vopelius and Kaycee Vopelius. Larry also leaves his brother Charles of Eatontown, and many loving relatives and friends.
He will be dearly missed by all who knew him.
Visitation will be held at O’Brien Funeral Home, 2028 Highway 35 at New Bedford Rd, Wall, on Saturday, April 8, 2017 from 12:00pm until a Funeral Ceremony at 4:00pm. During the visitation, there will be a Firemen’s Service.
In lieu of flowers, please donate to Union Fire Co. #1, PO Box, 91, Belmar, NJ 07719. Envelopes will be provided at the funeral home on Saturday.
