Sound the Alarm

It was 1995, or maybe '96. A two-week trip to McGuire AFB for the AFJROTC NJ 822's and another ROTC group. MSgt. James Tierney, along with Maj. Guillermo Franco fearlessly led our group of young airmen through various militarty-related tasks with ease. On one evening, myself and another airmen Josh drew firewatch at about midnight while in the baracks at Fort Dix. Things were going well until all of the sudden, the world's loudest smoke alarm went off in one of the rooms, the alarm being wrapped in a plastic bag. The seargant came down the dark hall, wondering what the h*ll all the noise was about. Sgt. Tierney, a man of action, took upon himself to correct the matter by locating the circuit breaker for the barack detectors. As he threw the switch, ALL H#LL BREAKS LOOSE!!! Lights and Sirens blazing, he exclaimed "ahh sh@t! Well, better get everyone outside now!" Then the Base MP's arrived, then the Base FD, then every other official you could think of! He was and always will be a great leader, a friend to all, and an important person for those who's lives have been forever touched. He will be dearly missed. God speed, MSgt. James Tierney, and thank you.
