Obituary for Anthony Fasano
Anthony Vincent Fasano, 80 of Lakewood, NJ died Friday, April 14, 2017 at Ocean Medical Center, Brick. Born in Glen Ridge, NJ, Anthony grew up in Montclair and Newark eventually moving to Old Bridge then to Pennsylvania. Anthony was a graduate of Weequahic High School in 1954 and served in the US Navy Reserve. He received an A.B in Biology and Chemistry from University of Northern Colorado a PhD. from Loyola Stritch School of Medicine in Anatomy and Neuroanatomy and a D.C. from Pennsylvania Chiropractic College.
Anthony taught human gross anatomy, neuro-anatomy, embryology and genetics in medical, dental and chiropractic schools and retired as a full professor. After retiring from teaching Anthony found his calling as a chiropractor. He was a visiting professor of anatomy of St. George University School of Medicine Grenada WI. Throughout his teaching career Anthony was the recipient of several Outstanding Teaching Awards.
In addition to Anthony’s many academic achievements he also served as a NJ hotline supervisor, Board of Directors of Big Brothers and Big Sisters, and a life member of Cheesequake First Aid Squad, Old Bridge where he spent time as a CPR and EMT instructor. Anthony was also a licensed massage therapist and Reiki Master and recently became an Ordained Christian Minister from the Christian National Church. Anthony’s many loves were running, hiking, dancing, and coaching his children in baseball and soccer.
Anthony was predeceased by his parents; Benjamin and Rose Fasano, his stepmother Rose Velardo and his sister and brother in-law Katherine and Anthony Rizzo. Surviving are his two children; Steven Fasano and his wife Sharlene of Green Brook, NJ, Dana Salsano and her husband Frank of Brick, NJ, three grandchildren: Lydia, Valentina and Talia. He is also survived by his sister Rachel Futter and her husband Bob of Cliffwood Beach, NJ and his former wife Linda Fasano of Barnegat, NJ. In addition, he is survived by many loving nieces, nephews and friends.
Memorial visiting will be Friday, from 3-8 PM at the O’Brien Funeral Home, 505 Burnt Tavern Rd., at Rt. 70 Brick. A Funeral Service will be Saturday, 10:30 AM at the funeral home. Committal will be private. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Anthony’s name to: St. Jude’s Children Hospital
