Obituary for Mary Ann Rita McCloskey

Mary Ann Rita McCloskey, 87, of Spring Lake Heights, NJ, died on the morning of Saturday, April 22, 2017, at Jersey Shore Medical Center in Neptune, NJ, of complications of Alzheimer’s disease. Mary Ann’s family was by her side during her final moments.
Mary Ann had a long, full life, originating with her upbringing on Second Street in Elizabeth, NJ. She spent her 20’s working as a staff supervisor at Prudential Insurance in Newark, NJ. Here, she was a core member of their amateur dance performance troupe. She routinely performed in dancing and singing shows, being part of a foursome known as ”The Four Seasons”, her role being “Miss Springtime”. The group performed on the radio in the 40’s, and also in USO shows, once performing on one of our Navy’s aircraft carriers. She was especially fond of antiques and travel. She met her husband Donald in 1956 at the Bamboo Bar in Seaside Heights, NJ, marrying in June of 1959. They were part owners of the Parker House Hotel and Restaurant in Sea Girt, where she assisted with the management of the hotel during the late 60’s and early 70’s. She was active in the Catholic Daughters of St. Catharine’s Parish in Spring Lake for almost all of her time here. Above all, Mary Ann gave everything for her children and her family, and for this especially she will be fondly missed by her family. She was always present at family functions, and was always in touch with the extended family.
Mary Ann was predeceased by her parents, John and Mary Kelly, of Elizabeth, NJ, two of her siblings, Jerome Terence Weber, of Peoria, Arizona and Robert Weber, of Surf City, NJ, and her son Donald, in June, 1999. Her husband Donald passed in June, 2009.
She is survived by her remaining children and their spouses, Joseph Robert and Sandra McCloskey, of Napa, CA; Robert George and Frances McCloskey, of Belmar, NJ; Mary Ann Eva and Charles Harris, of Hazlet, NJ and John Theodore and Rosaria McCloskey, of Huntsville, AL; and her grandchildren Cassidy, Christian, Jamie, Jennifer, John, Jeremy, Giovanna, and Francesca. Also surviving are her remaining three siblings, Clare Dolores Caston, of Freehold, NJ; Richard Brendan Weber, of Linden, NJ, and Sharon Weber of Davie, FL.
Visitation will take place at O’Brien Funeral Home, 2028 Hwy. 35, Wall, on Tuesday April 25, 2017 from 2-4 and 7-9 PM. The funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Catharine’s Church, Spring Lake, on Wednesday, April 26, 2017 at 10:30 AM, followed by burial at St. Anne’s Cemetery, Wall.
