The Memorial Candle Program has been designed to help offset the costs associated with the hosting this Tribute Website in perpetuity. Through the lighting of a memorial candle, your thoughtful gesture will be recorded in the Book of Memories and the proceeds will go directly towards helping ensure that the family and friends of Horace Leavitt can continue to memorialize, re-visit, interact with each other and enhance this tribute for future generations.

Condolence: My Uncle Horace was a man that I was in total owe of my whole life. I never really got to know him in my later life but he was definitely made of the stuff legends are made of. A true gentleman and a master of the foil. I wish I could have known him longer

Condolence: I served with Comander Leavitt in 1964 aboard the Growler. I have the highest respect and admiration for him. I pray for his family that remains and that he is basking in the Glory of Jesus Christ. He was indeed a great sailor

Condolence: Dear Joan and family,
Joy joins me in offering our deepest sympathy on the loss of Horace. I am glad that we included in our last trip east a visit to the Jersey shore to have lunch with Horace and you at the Black Swan in Spring Lake in 2013.
I had the privilege of serving with Horace on USS Hardhead (SS-365) in the late 50's. Horace was the most competent Submarine officer that I knew. And he was a better friend to all.
We shall all miss Horace.

With deepest sympathy,
Ned Floyd
