Frederick E.  Popovitch Sr.
Frederick E. Popovitch, Sr., Esq., 77, of Point Pleasant, passed away on Tuesday, June 13, 2017, at Ocean Medical Center.
Mr. Popovitch was born in Perth Amboy. He lived in Metuchen before coming to Point Pleasant as a boy. He was a graduate of St. Rose High School, Georgetown University and Seton Hall University School of Law. He was an attorney, practicing with his brother, Daniel S. Popovitch, Esq., at their firm, Popovitch & Popovitch LLC, in Point Pleasant. Mr. Popovitch also attended Juilliard School of Music, and was an accomplished pianist, with perfect pitch. He was a Life Member of the National Rifle Association, and enjoyed collecting model planes and trains.
Mr. Popovitch was predeceased by his parents, Fred and Ann (nee Masonawski) Popovitch. He is survived by his longtime companion, Josephine Anderson, of Point Pleasant. He is also survived by his children and their spouses, Susan and Bruce Ionno, of Ormond Beach, FL, Rick and Elizabeth Popovitch, of Brielle, and Paul Popovitch and Donna Geoghan, of Brick. Also surviving are his grandchildren, Gabrielle, Madeline and Olivia Popovitch, his brother and sister-in-law, Daniel and Mary Popovitch, of Point Pleasant, and their children, Danny, Ellen, David and Amanda Popovitch.
Visitation will take place at O’Brien Funeral Home, 505 Burnt Tavern Road, Brick, on Friday, June 16, 2017, from 4-8 PM. The funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Peter’s Church, Point Pleasant Beach, on Saturday, June 17, 2017, at 10 AM. Private cremation will follow. The family is grateful for the care provided to Mr. Popovitch by the doctors and nurses of the Oncology Unit at Ocean Medical Center, and requests that in lieu of flowers, donations in Mr. Popovitch’s memory be made to Ocean Medical Center Foundation, 425 Jack Martin Blvd., Brick, NJ 08724.
