Jean Holland Borden Johnson age 92 of Brick, NJ and Boca Raton, FL passed away on June 17 of natural causes. Jean was born in Newark, raised in Union and settled in Greenbriar, Brick after hurricane sandy destroyed her home of fifty years in Point Pleasant Beach. Her Boca Raton home was also destroyed by a hurricane years ago, but was rebuilt and enjoyed for many winters.

Jean worked for Prudential Insurance in Newark after graduating Union High School. She spent many years as secretary with the Union Board of Education, and continued as the Point Pleasant Beach High School principal's secretary when she moved to the Beach in 1964. After retiring, Jean took up the game of golf which proved to be a big part of her life both at BelAire Golf Club and Boca Dunes. Jean had an unprecedented five holes-in-one in her 23 years of playing the game. She was a life member of Deborah Hospital Foundation.

Jean was predeceased by her husbands, Warren Holland, William Borden and Arthur Johnson.

Surviving are her son, Jacque Holland and his wife Ann, their children Joseph, Jaclyn and Taylor, all of Maine, and Jayson and his fiancé, Stacey, of Colorado. Jean is also survived by her daughter Jill Holland, of Brick and her children, Kristine Tooker and her fiancé Eric, Vermont, A. Michael Mercuro Jr. and his wife Jessica, and Amanda Montuoro and her husband Robert, of Point Pleasant, Daniel Mercuro and his fiancé Sarah, Point Pleasant Beach, and six great-grandchildren, Caleb Fisher and his fiancé Jennifer, of Vermont, Lincoln and Phoebe Mercuro, Point Pleasant Beach, Alexandria, Robbie and Harry Montuoro, and one great-grand dog, Pally, Point Pleasant. Jean was predeceased by her sister, Audrey Ruban and her beloved dog, Max. She also had many 'outlaws,' as she called her step-children, grandchildren and great grandchildren and two new great great grandchildren.

She will be remembered for her kind and generous spirit, cocktail parties, wicked talent on the greens, her singing, especially the 'spicy' songs, her long-time friendships with the Variety Club Girls from high school, and her New Year's Eve parties. Jean donated her remains to Robert Wood Johnson Medical School.

At her request, there will be no funeral service. A memorial party will be held at St. Mary's by-the-Sea in the near future to celebrate a life well-lived. We were all blessed to have her as our matriarch for so many years.
