Obituary for Mildred H Burrell (McGahan )

Mildred H. Burrell, 85, of Brick, passed away on Saturday, June 30, 2017.
Mrs. Burrell (nee McGahan) was born and raised on Staten Island. She then lived in East Brunswick, where she raised her family, for over 50 years, before moving to Brick several years ago. She was a graduate of Curtis High School, on Staten Island. She worked for Main Street Florist, South River, and Hess Construction, Parlin, for many years, before retiring. She was active in the Ladies Auxiliary at V.F.W. Post #133, East Brunswick, for many years. More than anything, she was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother.
Mrs. Burrell was predeceased by her beloved husband, Joseph Burrell, Sr., in 1996. She was also predeceased by her brother, Edward McGahan, and two sisters, Edna Gobielle and Jean Rowan. She is survived by her children and their spouses, Joseph, Jr. and Lillian Burrell, Manahawkin, Christine and Louis Borlan, Point Pleasant, Michael and Laura Burrell, Manahawkin, Susan and Thomas Baker, Brick, and Kathryn and Robert Visokay, Milltown. She was the beloved grandmother of Lauren Cordova, Courtney Cottrell, Falyn Burrell, Suzanne Fenkel, Mikah Testa, Jaclyn Baker, Kaitlyn Borlan, Tara Bussey, Stephanie Ohlsson, Matthew Baker, Amanda Borlan, Jena Bussey, and Mallory Baker. Also surviving Mrs. Burrell are her 11 great-grandchildren, her sister and brother-in-law, Ellen and Mickey Radigan, and her sisters-in-law, Maureen Luongo and Maureen McGahan.
Visitation will take place at O’Brien Funeral Home, 505 Burnt Tavern Road, Brick, on Wednesday, July 5, 2017, from 4-8 PM. The funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Thomas the Apostle Church, Old Bridge, on Thursday, July 6, 2017, at 10:15 AM, followed by burial at Holy Cross Burial Park, East Brunswick. In lieu of flowers, donations in Mrs. Burrell’s memory may be made to American Parkinson Disease Association, 1250 Hylan Blvd., Ste. 4B, Staten Island, NY 10305.
