Obituary for Robert Solt

Robert   Solt
Robert Solt, age 84, passed away on Monday, July 10, 2017 at Jersey Shore University Medical Center in Neptune. Born in Elizabeth, NJ, Bob lived in Colonia and then moved to Manasquan and Point Pleasant Beach before moving to Brick where he has resided for the past 10 years.

Bob served in the United States Army in the 457th Airborne Division from 1953-1955 in Fort Campbell, KY. He was a successful salesman in the steel industry retiring in 2002 from Main Steel in Union. In addition, Mr. Solt and his wife were the owners of Solt’s Galley, a family operated business in Pt. Pleasant Beach. Bob also enjoyed his love of sports both on and off the field, coaching little league and softball, and watching golf. He was a former President for the Manasquan/Brielle Little League for two terms. Bob enjoyed playing pinochle, Square dancing, crabbing and being with family. He also served the community as President of the Board of Education in Manasquan from 1976-1979.

Robert was a Communicant of St. Dominic’s RC Church in Brick. He was formerly an active parishioner in St. Denis, Manasquan and St. John Vianney, Colonia.

Bob was predeceased by his father, Robert L. Solt and mother, Anna Hospador; sisters, Emily and Ruth; and brother, Bill. Surviving are his beloved wife, Loretta and “True Love” of 59 years and 11 months; their anniversary is August 10th. In addition, he is survived by his children, Loretta Ninivaggi and her husband, Richard, Robert Solt,Jr., Edward Solt, Valerie Peabody and her husband, Douglas and Susan Pincus and her husband, Tracy; 12 grandchildren; and 3 great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, July 13, 2017 from 4-8 p.m. at O’Brien Funeral Home, 505 Burnt Tavern Rd., Brick. A Funeral Mass will be held on Friday, July 14th at 10:00 a.m. at St. Dominic’s RC Church, Brick followed by the interment at Greenwood Cemetery, Brielle.
