Obituary for Joseph L. "Duke" Minotto
Joseph L. Minotto, 99, of Spring Lake, and a winter resident of Fort Myers, Fla., passed away peacefully on Monday, July 10, 2017, at the home of his daughter in Spring Lake.
Known as “Duke”, he was born, raised and lived a majority of his life in Bayonne, before retiring to Spring Lake, where he summered, and Fort Myers, Fla., where he wintered. He was also a summer resident of Toms River for many years. As a Bayonne resident, he was a Communicant of St. Vincent’s Church, a member of UNICO, and was a Frank Sinatra and Italian music aficionado.
He was a proud veteran of WWII, serving as a Sergeant in the US Army. Joseph was the owner of Broadway, Bergen Avenue, and South Orange Avenue Bus Companies of Bayonne, Jersey City and Newark.
He was predeceased by his parents, Louis and Louisa Saltereli Minotto, and his 5 siblings Angelo, Benny, Rose Solomita, Mary Cotten, and Jennie Riccio.
He is survived by his two daughters, Joan Minotto-Collins of Louisa, Va., and Linda Foy of Spring Lake, with whom he lived, and his significant other of 36 years, Paula Dugan. Also surviving are his 5 grandchildren, Michael and Jeffrey Foy, Bryann Ramachandra, and Justin and Joe Collins, 9 great- grandchildren, and his extended family, Denise, MaryBeth, Lauren and Caitlyn Dugan.
Visitation will be held at O’Brien Funeral Home, 2028 Hwy. 35 at New Bedford Rd., Wall, on Thursday, July 13, 2017, from 4-8 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at St. Catharine’s Church, Spring Lake, on Friday, July 14, 2017, at 10:30 AM, followed by entombment at St. Anne’s Cemetery, Wall.
