Condolence: I was saddened to hear the news that my favorite teacher Mr. Voelkel had passed away. I wanted to come to the viewing but regretfully I was unable to attend. Please know that you are all in my thoughts and prayers at this very difficult time. Mr. Voelkel was an extremely gifted teacher that had touched the hearts of so many. He was such a kind and caring man. I have so many great memories of 5th grade and of him. He taught me how to take pictures and how to develop them in a dark room he made in our classroom. He made learning so much fun!! He had a huge heart and always had a big smile on his face!! He has and will continue to hold a very special place in my heart. He will never be forgotten. Again, I am so sorry for your loss.

Condolence: My deepest sympathies to Bill's family. I knew Bill as a peer on the Genesis CISM team and as an instructor in the EMS community. He was the consummate teacher and was my go to guy when I had questions about training. Despite all his volunteer endeavors it was always apparent his family was his first love. He will be sorely missed by all who knew him. I hope the knowledge that you do not grieve alone will be of some comfort in the days and weeks ahead. God bless you all.

Condolence: To the family:
I am a former student of Mr. Voelkel, I had him for 5th grade many years ago in Bayville. He was and always will be one of my favorites. I still remember the cloak room that he transformed into a dark room to develope the photos we always took. In fact I still have some of those black and whites that we took.
Have not seen him in many years but he left an impression. May he Rest peacefully.

Condolence: Suzanne and I send our heartfelt condolences to Bill's family. He was a friend, teacher, leader, coach, mentor, Captain, President, and wit. Always a strong calming hand, a clear leading voice, no drama when Bill was involved, with a strong desire to grow his team / pupils at every opportunity. He always had such a wise and calming presence, even over the radio, even at the most chaotic of scenes, and this effect continued in the many 'debriefing' sessions we had at Dunkin Donuts. Be comforted that Bill's memory will live on through the many thousands that he taught and the millions of lives that have, and will be, touched by his influence. He was a great 'human'. May peace and tranquility comfort you in your time of grief. Paul.

His compassion for his fellow man knew no limits nor did his willingness to always lend a hand to those less fortunate. His was a life well spent and well lived. His passing has left a hole in the hearts of all those who knew and loved him. Godspeed my friend until we meet again.
