Dorothy E. Chase, 78, of Whiting passed away peacefully Friday, August 18, 2017 at Community Medical Center in Toms River. Mrs. Chase worked at 3M in Freehold for 28 years before retiring 21 years ago. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, gardening, cooking, sewing, Country music and traveling.
Born and raised in Baltimore, MD she lived in West Belmar before moving to Brick in 1964, where she and her husband raised their four children. Afterwards, she spent some time with her daughters in Seaside Heights and Forked River before moving to Whiting NJ in 2017.
Mrs. Chase was predeceased by her husband, Richard J. Ptaszynski in 1989. Surviving are her children, Michelle Raab, her husband, Paul and their children, Michael, Danny, Sharon and Billy of Seaside Heights. Richard Ptaszynski, his wife, Cheryl of Port Reading and his children, Breslin and Austin of Colts Neck. Mark Ptaszynski, his wife, Holly and their children, Kyla and Hannah of Point Pleasant and Lisa Ptaszynski of Forked River and her children, Lisa, Tina and Allie as well as Dorothy's brother, 2 great grandchildren, Aria and Kay, and a multitude of nieces, nephews and cousins.
Visiting will be on Sunday from 2-4 and 7-9pm at the O’Brien Funeral Home, 505 Burnt Tavern Road, Brick. A prayer service will be held on Monday 10 am in the funeral home. Burial will be at Ocean County Memorial Park, Toms River.
