Patrick J. Molloy 82 of Spring Lake Hts., NJ died Monday, August 28, 2017 at Tower Lodge Care Center, Wall. Born and raised in Brooklyn, NY, Patrick lived in Manhasset, NY before moving to Spring Lake Hts. 15 years ago. Patrick served in the US Air Force and was a parishioner of St. Catharine / St. Margaret Parish in Spring Lake. He was a passionately curious person, and read widely across many subjects, especially history and mountain climbing. He travelled widely, including an expedition to the base camp of Mt. Everest, and was a lifelong runner. Above all, he loved life, his family and his friends.
He was predeceased by his parents; Patrick and Margaret Molloy, a brother John Molloy and a sister Mary O’Dowd, and his faithful and adoring dog Dodger. Surviving are his beloved wife of 40 years, Marion G. Molloy, a loving son Mark Molloy and his wife Jackie Barba of Brooklyn, NY, a sister Peggie McGreal of Spring Lake Hts., and numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews and cousins.
Visiting will be Tuesday, September 5, 2017 from 4-8 PM at the O’Brien Funeral Home, 2028 Hwy 35 at New Bedford Rd., Wall. A Funeral Mass will be Wednesday, 10:30 AM at St. Catharine Church, Spring Lake. Burial will follow in St. Anne Cemetery, Wall. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in his name to the Adrian Dominican Sisters, the Sierra Club Foundation, or the Asbury Park branch of the Missionaries of Charity.
