Obituary for Dorothy Woelfle (Nicholson )

Dorothy Woelfle (Nicholson )
Dorothy Nicholson Woelfle passed away peacefully on Wednesday, Aug. 30, 2017, at her home in Brick Township after a brief illness. She was surrounded by her closest friends and caregivers. She would have been 92 on November 26.

Dorothy was raised in Livingston, NJ and spent the better part of her life in Morris County, where she worked as Assistant to the President of PAR International, a civil engineering and architectural firm located in Chatham. She retired in 1987 and moved to the Jersey shore where she resided until her passing.

Dorothy was predeceased by her parents, Percy Nicholson and Catherine Flanagan Nicholson, and her sisters Mary Masson and Katherine Dilzell. She is survived by a nephew, William Masson and his wife, Donna, of Manasquan; and her health advocate and executrix Janet Langstaff, of Spring Lake.

In addition, Dorothy leaves behind her beloved cat, Luna; her lifelong pal, Jackie Burns; and friend and caregiver, Laura Grasso, who along with other wonderful caregivers worked tirelessly to comfort Dorothy in her final weeks.

Over her adult lifetime, Dorothy was a generous benefactor to numerous animal rescue organizations. Her estate has made substantial provisions for their continued support. Dorothy has requested that there be no funeral or memorial services but that friends and acquaintances make donations in her name to the Jersey Shore Animal Shelter, Brick, NJ or the Monmouth County SPCA in Eatontown.
