Obituary for Gregory E. Genz

Gregory E. Genz, 66, of Wall, passed away on Wednesday, September 20, 2017.

Greg was born in Rahway and raised in Iselin. He also resided in Edison for many years before
moving to Xanadu at Wall seven years ago. Greg earned his Bachelor’s and Master’s Degrees at
Kean University. He then taught at St. Mary’s High School, South Amboy, for a year before going
into the electric industry. He worked for Alpha Wire, Linden, and Paige Electric, Union, for many
years, before returning to teaching. In 1995, be began teaching Special Education History at
South Plainfield High School, also serving as an assistant football coach, before retiring in 2010
due to illness. Greg was also an avid fisherman.

Greg was predeceased by his parents, Edward J. and Mildred (Pedersen) Genz. He is survived by
his sisters and their husbands, Nancy and Ray Mack, of Wall, and Jane and Edmund McCabe, of
Woodbridge. Also surviving are his nephews and nieces, Raymond, Jennifer, and Allison Mack,
and Colleen and Shannon McCabe, as well as his great-nieces, Alexis Mack, Madison Nelson and
Finley Mack, and a great-nephew, Connor Nelson.

Visitation will take place at O’Brien Funeral Home, 2028 Hwy. 35, Wall, on Friday, September
22, 2017, from 2-6 PM. The funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Mark’s Church, Sea Girt, on
Saturday, September 23, 2017, at 9:30 AM, followed by burial at St. Gertrude’s Cemetery,
Colonia. In lieu of flowers, donations in Greg’s memory may be made to Alzheimer’s NJ, 400
Morris Avenue, Ste. 251, Denville, NJ 07834-1365, or to Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, 6931
Arlington Road, 2nd Fl., Bethesda, MD 20814.
