Obituary for Elaine V "Lee" Schenker (Hall)

Elaine V "Lee" Schenker (Hall)
Lee Schenker, age 83, passed away at Brick Hospital on September 23, 2017 with her loving husband of 62 years by her side. Lee was born July 25, 1934, in Newark, New Jersey, the daughter of Joseph and Juliet Hall. After graduating from Union Hill High School, Lee began working for Bell Labs. It was there that she met the love of her life, Jack Schenker. The two married in 1955 and, shortly thereafter, moved to their Brick Township home where they would raise their four children. The couple still reside in the same home today.

As active participants in the Ocean County Bowling Association, Lee and Jack bowled together for over 50 years. She was elected Director and Treasurer of the OCWBA and served the association with pride for over 20 years. In 2002, Lee was inducted into their Hall of Fame for Meritorious Service. In addition to participating in numerous leagues, Jack and Lee traveled the country combining their vacations with Lee's participation in the annual WIBC National Bowling Tournaments.

Lee and Jack shared a love of theatre, sports and travel. She always found much joy reminiscing about the dozens of Broadway shows they attended. From cheering on the Mets and Giants to trips to Cape May, they were always by each other's side.

Lee is survived by her husband Jack Schenker; her two sons Ron Schenker of Raleigh, NC and Scott Schenker and his wife Suzanne of New Hope, PA; her two daughters Laura Wheaton and her husband Rick of Ocean Isle Beach, NC and Lisa Gigliotti and her husband Joe of Toms River, NJ. Her 11 grandchildren will cherish the many wonderful memories of Nana's holiday dinners, summer BBQ's and all her lists. Lee was also blessed with 5 great-grandchildren.

The family will receive relatives and friends for viewing on Thursday from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the O'Brien Funeral Home, 505 Burnt Tavern Road, Brick, NJ 08724. On Friday there will be a 10:00 a.m. service at the funeral home followed by the interment at St Mary of the Lake Cemetery, 1 Honey Locust Dr., Lakewood.

In lieu of flowers a donation can be made to the Ocean County Women's Bowling Association. Please send it to OCWBA, 2287 Tomera Pl., Toms River, NJ 08755 and on the memo line note - In memory of Lee Schenker for the Mary Pecora Memorial Fund.
