Donald J  Shoolbraid
Donald “Pop Pop” Shoolbraid was born to Dorothy and Harry Shoolbraid in Newark on May 3, 1932. He passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his family on Sunday, September 24, 2017.

After serving his country in the Korean conflict as a medic, Don returned home to New Jersey where he attended Upsala College in East Orange and met his wife, Doris. In 1969, Don and Doris settled in Bridgewater where they raised their six children and Don ran a successful consulting business.

In 1997 Don and his wife retired to Bay Head where they enjoyed many years hosting family and friends at their beach house.

Donald is survived by Doris, his devoted wife of 61 years, and his children: Richard and Kathy Shoolbraid of Califon, Nancy and Mike Griffin of Hackettstown, Tommy and Cyndi Shoolbraid of Perkasie, PA, Patty Cullinane of Califon, George Shoolbraid of Hellertown, PA and Beth and Frank Leloia of Long Valley. He also leaves behind 13 grandchildren, one great-grandson and countless lifelong friends.

His family was always his number one priority in life and his wife, children and grandchildren will all miss him.

Memorial visitation will be Thursday, September 28 at O’Brien Funeral Home, 505 Burnt Tavern Road, Brick, NJ from 11:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. with a memorial service immediately following.
