Joan Marie Gilsenan died on September 23, 2017 at Jersey Shore Medical Center. She was born in Elizabeth, N.J. and resided in Elizabeth and Avon prior to moving for Four Seasons, Lakewood, N.J. 20 years ago. She was a graduate of Benedictine Academy, Elizabeth, NJ and Marymount College, Tarrytown, N.Y. She was employed by the Elizabeth Board of Education for 40 years, retiring in 1997.
Joan was predeceased by her parents Nan and Ted, her sisters Mary and Ann Gilsenan, and a nephew T.J.
Joan is survived by her brothers and sisters-in-law Myles J. and Patricia Gilsenan, John T. (Ted) and Dorothy Gilsenan. She is also survived by her nephews and their wives Myles and Cindy, Dan and Cami, Ted and Jen, Patrick and Megan and a grandniece and 5 grandnephews.
Arrangements have been completed by O’Brien Funeral Home. There is no visitation and internment is private. A mass in celebration of the gift of life will be celebrated 10am at St. Dominic’s Church, Brick, N.J. on Saturday, December 9, 2017.
