Rita Marie McKeown (nee Coleman), 83, of Point Pleasant passed away peacefully on Tuesday, September 26, 2017 at The Chelsea at Brick. Mrs. McKeown was a payroll accountant and owner at Coleman Management in Sea Bright before retiring many years ago. She was a member of St. Martha’s RC Church in Point Pleasant and the Women of Irish Heritage of Jersey Shore.
Born in Newark, she lived in Hasbrouck Heights and Avon-by-the-Sea before moving to Point Pleasant 16 years ago.
She was predeceased by her loving husband, Peter J. McKeown in 2016; and by her parents, Thomas and Elizabeth Coleman.
Surviving are her sons, Thomas Matthew McKeown and his wife, Maria of Boise, ID and James Coleman McKeown of Brick; daughters, Nancy Eileen Stamberger and her husband, Garry of Brick and Elizabeth LeNoir of Spring Lake; sister, Carol Perry of Manchester, NH; and grandchildren, Julia Rose and her husband, Pete Ward, Peter Auguste, Megan, Colin and Richard.
Visiting will be on Tuesday, October 3, 2017 from 2-4 and 7-9pm at the O’Brien Funeral Home, 505 Burnt Tavern Road, Brick. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered 10am on Wednesday, October 4, 2017 at St. Peter’s RC Church, Point Pleasant. Burial will follow at St. Catharine Cemetery, Wall. Donations may be made in her name to the Alzheimer’s Association of Greater NJ.
