Anthony D. Di Giorgio, 81 of Allaire Country Club Estates, Wall Township passed away Tuesday, September 26, 2017 at his home surrounded by his loving family.
He was born and raised in Rahway and resided there before moving to East Brunswick 47 years ago and then to Wall Township 20 years ago.
Anthony did his undergraduate studies at the University of Detroit receiving his B.S. in Electrical Engineering and then went on to receive his Masters in Electrical Engineering from Newark College of Engineering.
Anthony was employed as the Director of Command & Control at Fort Monmouth before retiring.
He was very involved in the lives of his children growing up. He coached many basketball and baseball teams. Most of the kids he coached affectionately called him “Mr. D”. He was also known as the “ The Voice of the Village Swim Team”. He was an avid horseracing fan who loved Monmouth Park and the old Gulfstream Park.
He was predeceased by his parents Luigi and Angelina Di Giorgio and his brother Louis Di Giorgio.
He is survived by his devoted wife of 57 years Ruth Rutishauser Di Giorgio, his daughter Susan Gentile of Ridgewood and his 2 sons and their spouses James and Adrienne of Basking Ridge and Paul and Valerie of Red Bank, and his 9 grandchildren Gabriella, Francesca, Michael, Anne Marie, Elizabeth, James Jr., Claire, Cameron, and Christopher.
Visitation will be on Friday from 4:00pm to 8:00pm at the O’Brien Funeral Home, 2028 Hwy 35 at New Bedford Rd., Wall, NJ. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Saturday, September 30, 2017 at 12:00 Noon at St. Mary / Divine Mercy Parish, 232 Central Ave., Rahway, NJ, . Please go directly to the Church on Saturday, there will not be a procession from the funeral home. Burial will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Clark.
In lieu of flowers the family specifically requests donations be made to the Wounded Warrior Project, PO Box 758517,Topeka, Kansas 66675-8517.
