Obituary for Stephen T. Faughnan Sr.

Stephen T. Faughnan, Sr., 95, formerly of Brooklyn and Brick, passed away on Wednesday, September 27, 2017.
Mr. Faughnan was born and raised in Brooklyn, and lived there until moving to Brick 28 years ago. For the last three years he resided at Brandywine Assisted Living, Watchung. He attended St. Michael’s High School and Pace University. He had a distinguished career in banking with Brown Brothers Harriman & Co., and later with BNP, from which he retired as Vice-President. He had served as President of the Board of Trustees at Bishop Ford High School, and was also a member of the Father’s Guild there. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, Thomas Dongan Council, in Brooklyn.
Mr. Faughnan was predeceased by his beloved wife, Margaret, in 2006. He is survived by his children and their spouses, Stephen Faughnan and Susan Chin-Faughnan, of Staten Island, Timothy and Ellen Faughnan, of Belle Harbor, Queens, Donald and Kathryn Faughnan, of Newtown, Pa., Andrew and Beatrice Faughnan, of Aberdeen, and Peggy and Mike Sullivan, of Chatham. He is also survived by 18 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren (with three more on the way), and a sister, Theresa Greene, of Fleischmanns, NY. He was predeceased by 8 siblings.
Visitation will take place at O’Brien Funeral Home, 2028 Hwy. 35, Wall, on Friday, September 29, 2017, from 2-4 and 7-9 PM. The funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Mark’s Church, Sea Girt, on Saturday, September 30, 2017, at 9:30 AM, followed by burial at St. Catharine’s Cemetery, Sea Girt. In lieu of flowers, donation in Mr. Faughnan’s memory may be made to Jesuit Refugee Service, 1016 16th St. NW, Ste. 500, Washington, DC 20036, or to Sloan-Kettering Hospital, Office of Development, 885 2nd Ave., 7th Fl., NY, NY 10017.
