Obituary for Theodore T. "Ted" Paliwoda

Theodore T. Paliwoda, 92, of Tinton Falls, and formerly of Bayonne, passed away on Sunday, October 8, 2017.
Ted was born and raised in Bayonne, NJ. He was an Army veteran of WWII, having served in Europe. In his younger years he spent time on both the Bayonne Fire and Police Departments, before owning and operating Willy’s Tavern in Bayonne for many years with his best friend John Frost. He later worked as a Warehouse Supervisor at Anheuser-Busch before retiring in 1988, with his late wife Laura, and moved to Carolina Shores, NC. They lived out their later years at Seabrook Village in Tinton Falls. Ted was both an avid golfer and fisherman. Known as the “Duke of Fluke” whether on a fishing pier or charter boat. But above all else was a devoted family-man and enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren.
Ted was predeceased by his beloved wife Laura, (nee Grasso) in 2014, and by his sister, Miriam Moody, in 2015. He is survived by his children and their spouses, Theodore, Jr. and Karen Paliwoda, of Berkeley Heights; William Paliwoda (Lt. Col., USAF, Ret.), of Mays Landing; and Denise and Michael Dillon, of Neptune. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Kerri, Ryan, Katelyn, Megan, Christina, and Kyle Paliwoda, and Caroline and Jackson Dillon. Ted is also survived by his sister-in-law, Marie Sczepkowski, of Little Egg Harbor; and his nephews, Ernie, Brian, and Bill Moody, and Thomas Sczepkowski.
Visitation will take place at O’Brien Funeral Home, 2028 Hwy. 35, Wall, on Thursday, October 12, 2017, from 2-4 and 7-9 PM. The funeral service, with military honors, will be held at the funeral home on Friday at 11 AM. Cremation and committal of cremated remains will take place privately. In lieu of flowers, donations in Ted’s memory may be made to www.bvirelief.com, to assist Hurricane Irma victims on Tortola, an island that was special to Ted. Condolences may be sent via www.obrienfuneralhome.com.
