Lila Stella Powers was born in Sheepshead Bay, Brooklyn, and died peacefully in her sleep at Jersey Shore University Medical Center on Sunday night, November 5, 2017.

Lila is predeceased by her husband of 42 years, James J. Powers. She is survived by her daughter Kathleen Powers; her son James Powers, Doreen Guerin and their daughters Alisia and Danielle; her son John Powers, his wife Dawne and their daughters Rachel and Jennifer; and her son Christopher Powers and his sons Zachary and Devon.

Lila was a loving mother and devoted grandmother.

In the 1980’s, she was an accomplished upholsterer and taught upholstery through the Monmouth County Adult Education program. Also, during that time, she was the owner of Well Dressed Rooms, an upholstery shop in Spring Lake Heights. In the 1990s, Lila was a professional lampshade designer and proudly created custom-made cut-and-pierce lampshades for interior designers in Spring Lake, New Jersey.

A celebration of Life visiting will be Wednesday, from 4-8 PM at the O’Brien Funeral Home, 2028 Hwy 35 at New Bedford Rd., Wall. A Funeral Service will be Thursday, 1 PM at the Wall United Methodist Church. A private family committal will be in Monmouth Memorial Park.
