Mrs. Dorothy L. Ninnemann, aged 70 years, currently of Toms River and previously of Whiting and Brick Township, passed away peacefully on Sunday, November 26, 2017 at the Claremont Center, Point Pleasant, New Jersey.
Mrs. Ninnemann was an elementary school teacher for the Berkeley Township Board of Education many years before retirement. She was a graduate of Ocean County College (first graduating class) and the former Trenton State Teachers College. She was both a recent member of the Christ Lutheran Church, Whiting and a longtime member of the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, Point Pleasant Beach. Mrs. Ninnemann was recently named to Member Emeritus status at the latter. Mrs. Ninnemann was very active in church affairs for many years. In recent years, she gained renown for unaccompanied driving an electric powered wheelchair through the streets of Whiting and with assistance using a manual wheelchair in the streets of Point Pleasant Borough whenever possible to attend services demonstrating Her feisty, never say never spirit to live life.
Mrs. Ninnemann was an active outdoors Women. She actively participated and enjoyed the Pinelands area while canoeing, kayaking, bicycling, camping, hiking, back packing, birding, botanizing (New Jersey native Orchids , carnivorous plants and wildflowers), and bogging. She was active in dog and horse training. She was competitive in sanctioned dog shows and English Style Equestrian events. Through Her Husband Karl, She was active with the Ocean County Chapter of the Audubon Society and the New Jersey Pinelands Commission.
Born in Neptune, She lived locally in Toms River, Whiting, Brick Township, Wall Township, and Neptune Township for most all of Her life.
Mrs. Ninnemann was predeceased by Her loving husband and life partner, Karl Ninnemann Jr. in 1995; Her parents, Bernard and Gladys Goodale; and mother and father-in-law, Karl and Dorothy Ninnemann.
Surviving are Her Son, Mark J. Ninnemann of Wausau, WI as well as six grandchildren. Also surviving are Her brothers John H. Goodale of Toms River and Stephen A. Goodale and His wife, Deb of New Ringgold, PA.
A funeral service will be conducted 11 AM on Friday December 1, 2017 at the Good Shepard Lutheran Church in Point Pleasant, New Jersey. All who knew her are welcome to attend. Burial will be held privately at the Brigadier General William C. Doyle (Veterans) Memorial Cemetery following 11 AM private family service on Tuesday, December 5, 2017 in the Cemetery Chapel.
