Obituary for Charles Hendry "Charlie" Barr Jr.

Charles Hendry Barr Jr. “Charlie”, 27, of Brick passed away suddenly on Monday, November 27, 2017. Charlie worked as a manager of the Rainbow Diner in Brick at the time of his passing. He truly loved going to work every day and serving the people in the Brick community. Charlie was an avid sports fan and enjoyed watching the New York Mets, New York Football Giants, New Jersey Devils, New York Red Bulls, as well as Professional Wrestling (WWE). He has been described as a big teddy bear and had an incredible way of making everyone around him laugh and feel loved.
Born in Belleville, he grew up in Kearny before moving to Brick 10 years ago and graduating from Brick Memorial High School.
He is predeceased by his paternal grandfather, Charles Barr; his maternal grandmother, Annamae Gaffney; and his maternal grandfather, James Gaffney. Surviving are his parents, Charles Sr. and Doreen Barr, of Brick; his paternal grandmother, Margaret Barr, of Kearny; sisters, Coleen Barr-Scorsone and her wife, Kristyn, of Kearny; and Christine Klein and her husband, Matt, of Brick; his nephew, Jameson Charles Klein; as well as many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.
Visiting will be on Friday from 5-9 pm at the O’Brien Funeral Home, 505 Burnt Tavern Road, Brick. A prayer service will be held privately. Final interment will also be held in private.
