Kathy Lou McHenry Keleher, beloved daughter of John and Josephine Hackenberg McHenry, passed away on Thursday, November 30, 2017. Kathy was born 76 years ago in Detroit, Michigan on December 4, 1940.

Kathy lived in Detroit for a short time, then moved to Ridgefield Park in New Jersey for 8 years, New Providence for 3 years, and Brick for 66 years. She was a graduate of Osbornville Elementary School and Point Pleasant Beach High School, class of 1958. Kathy graduated from Glassboro State College in 1962 and received her Masters from Fairleigh Dickinson University in 1979. Kathy taught 2nd, 3rd and 4th grades at Lanes Mill School in Brick for 35 years, and retired in 1999. Kathy was selected for the Governor’s Teacher Recognition Award from Lane’s Mill School in 1995.

Kathy was active in the Alpha Delta Kappa Women’s Sorority (Honorary Organization of Women Educators), Brick Township Historical Society, Brick Township Garden Club, the Ocean County Retired Educators Association (OCREA), and was a 17 year volunteer and a Board member for the VNACJ Thrift and Consignment Shop in Manasquan. She also was a longtime communicant of St. Dominic's RC Church in Brick.

Kathy is survived by her dearly beloved husband, William John Keleher, her beloved son John Keleher and his wife Diane, Millstone, her beloved daughter, Karen Keleher Powner and her husband Jim, Brick, and her cherished grandchildren, Louis John Keleher, Scott Donald Keleher, Brian William Keleher, Meghan Louise Powner and Matthew James Powner.

Viewing will be held on Monday, December 4, 2017 from 4-8 p.m. at O’Brien Funeral Home, 505 Burnt Tavern Rd., Brick. A Funeral Mass will be held on Tuesday, December 5th at 10:00 a.m. at St. Dominic’s RC Church, Brick followed by the interment at Greenwood Cemetery, Brielle.
