Obituary for Kathleen "K.C." Lanagan (Cummings )

Kathleen Lanagan affectionately known as “K.C.”, 71, of Waretown passed away peacefully on Monday, December 4, 2017 at her home surrounded by her family. Mrs. Lanagan was a teacher for many years within the Ocean County Vocational School System before retiring in 2015. She was a graduate of Jersey City State College in Jersey City where she earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Mathematics and a Master’s Degree in Art. She was a member of the NJEA and the Pine Shores Art Association in Manahawkin. Along with her husband, Thomas they also owned and operated The Inn Victoria Bed and Breakfast in Chester, Vermont for over 7 years.
Born in Hoboken, she grew up in Ridgefield and lived in Jersey City, Vernon, Pennington, Chester, VT and Laguna Beach, CA before moving to Waretown 11 years ago.
Mrs. Lanagan was predeceased by her daughter, Kerry Lanagan in 1990 and by her father, James Cummings. Surviving is her loving husband of 49 years, Thomas P. Lanagan; son, Thomas Lanagan of Newport Beach, CA; mother, Anne Cummings formerly of Ridgefield; brother, Kevin Cummings and his wife, Debbie of Spotsylvania, VA; sister, Barbara Heilmann and her husband, Jeremy of West Milford; and her nephews, James and Daniel Cummings.
Visiting will be on Friday from 2-4 and 7-9pm at the O’Brien Funeral Home, 505 Burnt Tavern Road, Brick. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday 10am at the Epiphany RC Church in Brick. Final interment will be private.
