Through the lighting of a memorial candle, your thoughtful gesture will be recorded in the Book of Memories and the proceeds will go directly towards helping ensure that the family and friends of Bernard Lauber can continue to memorialize, re-visit, interact with each other and enhance this tribute for future generations.

Obituary for Bernard P. Lauber

Bernard P.  Lauber
Bernard P. Lauber, 91, of Wall, formerly of Spring Lake, Basking Ridge, Nutley and Clifton, died on December 11, 2017, at Preferred Care at Wall. He was a graduate of Seton Hall College and New York University. A Certified Public Accountant, he was a financial executive at Worthington Corporation, Studebaker-Worthington Corporation and at MAN Roland, USA. In retirement he was an American Cancer Society volunteer and delivered Meals on Wheels for many years. He was communicant of St. Catharine’s and St. Margaret’s Parish in Spring Lake where he was a Lector and Eucharist minister.
He served his country during World War II in France and Germany as a member of the 141st Infantry Regiment of the 36th Division. He earned the Combat Infantry Badge and was discharged as a Sergeant.
He was predeceased in 2003 by his wife Virginia, of 51 years, his parents William and Elsie Lauber, his daughter Margaret in 1989 and brothers William, and Richard. Surviving are his devoted wife Marilyn and his daughters: Carolyn Gerber, Geraldine Hubmer, Roseann Weidner, Christine Garrison and Justine Jones. He was the father-in-law of Richard and Kathleen Husar, Franz Hubmer, James Weidner, William Garrison and Erik Jones. Also surviving are 13 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren. He was a step-father to Joseph Reilly, Sharon Tobin, Brian Reilly, Marilyn Clark, Thomas Reilly, Matthew Reilly, Kevin Reilly, the late John Reilly and step-grandfather to their 20 children.
Visitation will be held on Friday, December 15, 2017, from 2-4 and 7-9 PM at O’Brien Funeral Home, 2028 Hwy. 35 at New Bedford Road, Wall, NJ. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, December 16, 2017, at 10:30AM at St. Catharine’s Church, Spring Lake, followed by burial at St. Anne’s Cemetery, Wall.
