Carol S. Bennett, 71, of Brielle, passed away on Monday, January 1, 2018.
Carol was born on Staten Island and has been a resident of Brielle for many years. She was a graduate of Wall High School and Cedar Crest College. She recently retired after a 35-year career as a teacher at Ramtown Elementary School, where she was highly regarded for her dedication to her students. She loved shopping for a good deal, fancy cocktails, and dessert. Carol, above all, was a devoted mother and grandmother.
Carol was predeceased by her parents Kenneth and Mary Slaven. She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Jason and Dawn Bennett of Forked River, and her daughter Kerry Bennett of Brick. She was the beloved grandmother of Jacob Bennett, Brianna and Brendan Mahoney, and Isabella Insano. Carol is also survived by her sister and brother-in-law, Mary and Gary Hazuka, of Easton, Pennsylvania, and their daughters, Marci Lombardi and Shari Ireland.
Visitation will take place on Friday, January 5th, from 2-4 and 7-9 P.M., at O’Brien Funeral Home, 2028 Hwy. 35 at New Bedford Road, Wall, NJ. The funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Denis Church in Manasquan on Saturday, January 6th at 10:00 AM, followed by burial in Greenwood Cemetery in Brielle. In lieu of flowers donations in Carol’s memory may be made to Ramtown Elementary School PTO, 216 Ramtown-Greenville Road, Howell, NJ 07731 (in check memo, please write “In memory of Carol Bennett”).
