Peter J. Thrunk, Jr., age 83, passed away on Tuesday, January 2, 2018 at Shorrock Gardens in Brick after a long battle with Parkinson’s Disease. Born and raised in Jersey City, Peter has resided in Brick for the past 45 years.

Mr. Thrunk proudly served in the United States Army during the Korean War, receiving the National Defense Service Medal and Good Conduct Medal.

Peter was an avid baseball fan even being offered a position when he was younger as a New York Yankee.
His greatest joy was spending time with his family especially his beloved grandchildren.

He is predeceased by his brother Robert Thrunk and his sister Frances Harrington.

Surviving are his beloved wife of 53 years Camille; his son Peter J. Thrunk and his wife Marie, his daughter Kim Troisi and her husband Peter; his sisters, Carol Isley, Marilyn Higgins and her husband George and Gloria Barry and her husband Bob and his sister in law, Carol Thrunk, sister in law Lillian and Thomas Grillo, Dr. Anthony Grillo and his wife Gerri; his four grandchildren, Joseph and Jillian Troisi and Jake and Sean Thrunk and many loving nieces and nephews and friends.

The family would especially like to thank the staff at Brandywine Assisted Living in Toms River for all their care for Peter during his time there as well as Dr. Rocco Dipaola of Shore Neurology.

Viewing will be held on Sunday, January 7, 2018 from 2-6 p.m. at O’Brien Funeral Home, 505 Burnt Tavern Rd., Brick. A Funeral Mass will be held on Monday, January 8th at 10:00 a.m. at St. Peter’s RC Church, Point Pleasant followed by the entombment at Atlantic View Cemetery, Manasquan.
