Michael M. Prisco, age 80, of Brick NJ, passed away peacefully on January 13, 2018 after a courageous battle with cancer. Born on April 7, 1937 in Newburgh, NY, the oldest of four children, Michael was the son of the late Michael and Ann Prisco.
Michael was a devoted husband, father, brother, grandfather, uncle, and friend who will be remembered for his loving heart, big smile, playful sense of humor, notable intellect, and red socks.
Michael served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War. He was the first in his family to attend college, graduating from Clarkson University in 1960 with a Chemical Engineering degree, and receiving his Masters in Chemistry from Akron University in 1963. He met and married his beautiful bride, Lynn Thatcher in 1959.
Michael began his successful career researching and designing tires at Firestone in Akron Ohio, then moved on to sales management with General Electric Silicone Products. He was later employed by Environmental Testing Company as VP of Sales. Following that, Michael established his own company, Environmental Quality Affiliates, conducting research on water quality and recommending clean-up methodology.
Michael loved to spend time with his family and friends. He had a well-known passion for boating and fishing, and treasured his annual fishing vacations in Islamorada, Florida.
He is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Lynn Thatcher Prisco, along with four children; Marc Prisco (JoAnn) of Brick, NJ, Anthony Prisco (Dina) of Holmdel NJ, Cathleen Gouveia (Robert) of Tiburon, CA, and Nanci Colby of Newark, DE; 7 grandchildren, Katie, Michael, AJ, Nate, Ryan, Tyler, and Dylan; and one sibling, Kathy Henn of Sound Beach, NY. He was predeceased by his sister, Sandra Velez, brother, Vernon Prisco, and beloved grandson, Shane Colby.
A Memorial Visitation will be held Tuesday, January 16, 2018 from 3:00-6:00 pm, including a service at 5:30 at O’Brien Funeral Home, 505 Burnt Tavern Rd, in Brick, NJ. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be sent to the Shane T.
