Phyllis C  Riehs (Turner)
Phyllis C. Riehs (nee Turner) passed into God’s nearer presence on Sunday, January 14, 2018. Phyllis was born in her beloved Keansburg, NJ in 1928. She attended grade school there and graduated from Leonardo High School. She attended the University of Montana and secretarial school before working on Wall Street and then at Fort Monmouth, NJ until her marriage in 1953.

Phyllis was a proud lifelong Jersey shore resident. She loved history and crafting, and was an avid animal lover. She won several awards for flower arranging.

Phyllis was involved in a number of organizations and was known for her philanthropic efforts. During WWII she was active in the USO and was recognized for her service. She was a 71 year member of the Order of Eastern Star and was a Past Matron. She was Mother Advisor for Golden Assembly #43 Order of the Rainbow for Girls and received its highest honor the Grand Cross of Color.

Phyllis was a member of The Church in Brielle and was involved in children’s programs as a Sunday School teacher and provided administrative support. She was a long time member of the Evening Membership Department of the Red Bank Women’s Club and served as president and secretary. Phyllis was an active member of the Allaire Village Auxiliary. She was also a Girl Scout leader, involved in the Fort Monmouth Officer’s Wives Club, and an antique group.

Phyllis was predeceased by her loving husband Rudy in 2009. She is survived by her daughters Karen of Brick, NJ and Krista and husband Angel Camilo of Forked River, NJ, three grandchildren, Manuel Camilo and wife Stephanie, Carol and Karyn Camilo, and two great grandchildren, Logan and Malcolm Camilo.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at The Church in Brielle on Saturday, February 10, 2018 at 11:00 am. Committal will be private. Donations can be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, P.O.
