Through the lighting of a memorial candle, your thoughtful gesture will be recorded in the Book of Memories and the proceeds will go directly towards helping ensure that the family and friends of William Simon can continue to memorialize, re-visit, interact with each other and enhance this tribute for future generations.

Obituary for William Peter "Bill" Simon Jr.

William Peter "Bill"  Simon Jr.
William “Bill” Peter Simon, Jr., of Toms River passed away peacefully on Friday, January 19, 2018 at the Community Medical Center in Toms River. Mr. Simon was a stationary engineer / boiler operator at the Robert Wood Johnson Barnabas Health, Monmouth Medical Center Southern Campus Hospital and member of Operating Engineers Local 68 in Lakewood for many years before retiring in 2017. Previously, he worked for the Hess Oil Company in Perth Amboy and was a plant operator and truck driver earlier in his career. He was a member and shop steward of the OCAW Union Local #8. Before his time at Hess, He was an owner and operator of his own trucking company. Mr. Simon loved to fish and was an avid Green Bay Packers fan but most of all enjoyed spending time with his family and especially his grandchildren who were his pride and joy.

Born in Brooklyn, NY he grew up in the Flatbush and Greenpoint sections and lived in Ozone Park, Queens before moving to Toms River 41 years ago.

He was predeceased by his parents, William Peter, Sr. and Jeanne Simon. Surviving is his loving wife of 45 years, Theresa C. (Manfredi) Simon; son, William “Billy” Peter Simon III, of Barnegat, and his children Dominick and Vincent; daughter, Debora Viscomi and her husband, Eric of Brick and their children, Lyla and Robert; brother, Douglas H. Simon of Pennsylvania; nieces, Jennifer and Christine; nephews, Douglas, Jr. and Nicholas; as well as his beloved cat, JJ.

Visiting will be on Tuesday from 2-4 and 7-9pm at the O’Brien Funeral Home, Brick. A prayer service will be conducted at 8:30pm that evening. Final interment will be private. Donations may be made in his name to the local chapter of the ASPCA.
