Mary Louise Celiano, 86, of Manasquan, passed away on Sunday, January 21, 2018, at her home, surrounded by the love of her family.
Born in Newark, Mary Louise was raised in Irvington. After losing her mother at a very young age, and then her father in her teens, Mary Louise was welcomed into the home of the Klauss family. She attended Irvington High School where she participated as a Flag Swinger and Majorette. During that time, she met the love of her life, Eugene, and they were married a few years later.
Mary Louise raised her five children in Roselle and moved with Eugene to Manasquan almost 50 years ago. Mary Louise was a devout Catholic her entire life. She was actively involved in the CYO, Pre-Cana, Marriage Encounter, Altar Rosary Society and was a Eucharistic Minister. She also spent many years volunteering at Madonna House.
Mary Louise was all about F-A-M-I-L-Y and her motto was "moderation". She was pre-deceased by her husband, Eugene, only three weeks ago after 65 years of marriage. She is survived by her children, Michael Celiano and his wife Linda, Gregory Celiano, Daniel Celiano and his wife Joan, Donna Celiano, and Kenneth Celiano and his wife Charisse. She was the beloved grandmother of Nicole, Melissa, Justin, Dominique, Thomas, Nicholas, Dominic, Brianna, Morgan, Marcus, Ciarra, Anthony, Joel, Michael, Rebecca, Emmy, Haley, Hannah and Timothy, and the great-grandmother of Aidan, Traeston, Ryan, Kaitlyn, Addison and Christian. Mary Louise is survived by her sister Alicia O’Toole and her husband George, and was predeceased by her brother Louis Gartz, whose wife Bettie survives.
Visitation will take place at O’Brien Funeral Home, 505 Burnt Tavern Road, Brick, on Wednesday, January 24, 2018, from 3-7 PM. The funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Martha’s Church, Pt. Pleasant, on Thursday, January 25, 2018, at 11 AM, followed by interment at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, East Hanover. In lieu of flowers, donations in Mrs. Celiano’s memory may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, PO Box 1893, Memphis TN 38101.
