Barbara Ann Fox (nee Rustia), 86, originally of Sea Girt, NJ, died Monday January 22, 2018.
She was a graduate of Our Lady Queen of Peace H.S. in 1949 and Caldwell College for Women in 1953. Early in her career she was a Chemist for Andrew Jergens, Co., Englehardt Industries and her most coveted position, a Chemist for the NJ State Police Crime Lab in West Trenton, NJ. She was also a senior member of the American Chemical Society.
She later taught Jr. High Science at H.W. Mountz School in Spring Lake for 25 years, and Christian Doctrine at St. Marks, Sea Girt, NJ during the 70’s and again twenty years later.
She was an avid tennis player, and a charter member of the Spring Lake Women’s Tennis League as well as Allaire Racquet Club. She was a former trustee of the Sea Girt Real Estate Owners Association, a long-term member of the NJ Right to Life Organization, and a past President of the NJ Catholic Women’s College Club.
She was born in Bayonne Hospital, NJ, but was not afraid to move about having lived in Jersey City, North Arlington, Stirling, Roseland and Sea Girt, NJ. She lived in Los Angeles, CA; Arlington Heights, IL, Chelmsford, MA, before moving to Sea Girt, NJ in the 1970’s. Her final years she resided in Marlborough, MA.
She is predeceased by her beloved husband, Eugene Francis Fox as well as her sister Joan Pierson and brother John Rustia.
Surviving are her two sons- Joseph D. Fox & his wife Jeanne of Franklin, MA, and Francis J. Fox & his wife Holly of West Columbia, SC as well as five grandchildren- Kate & Mary Alice of Franklin, MA and Donna, Sean and Diana of West Columbia, SC.
She leaves behind sisters- Mrs. Helen Bunin, Mountainside, NJ, Mrs. Margaret Yerman and Mrs. Judith Robertson, both of Venice, FL; as well as her brother William J. Rustia of Woodbridge, VA. Also, 31 loving nieces and nephews.
O’Brien Funeral Home, Wall Township is in charge of arrangements. Viewing will be at the funeral home on Saturday, January 27th from 8-9am, with funeral mass to follow at 9:30am at St. Mark’s Catholic Church, Sea Girt. Burial to follow at St. Catharine Cemetery, Sea Girt.
