Obituary for Clifford John "Jack" Henry Jr.

Clifford J. “Jack” Henry Jr. 91 of Neptune City, died Friday February 2, 2018 at his home. Born in Asbury Park, Jack was a lifelong resident of Neptune City. He served in the US Navy during World War II on the USS Belleau Wood. From 1947 until 1967 he delivered dairy products for Wardell’s Dairy to Ocean Grove. Jack worked as a federal firefighter from NWS Earle from 1967-1988, US Navy Base Colts Neck. From 1989 until 1999 he delivered mail for Monmouth County Court System, Freehold and from 1999 until 2014 he worked for Monmouth County Parks System at Shark River Golf Course. Jack was part of the “Greatest Generation” and was proud of all that he was involved. He was a member of the Neptune City, Avon VFW Post, a member of the West Grove United Methodist Church, a charter member and life member of Local IAFF 147. Jack was also a past member of the Neptune City First Aid Squad for 25 years and was a life member and 70-year life member of the Neptune City Fire Department. He was a member of the Ocean Grove Masonic Lodge # 238 and the Asbury Park Masonic Lodge #142. He enjoyed bowling for North Shore Church League and Fireman’s Traveling League.
Jack was predeceased by his son Clifford John Henry III. Surviving are his wife Virginia R. Henry, children; Jennifer R. Greffen, Kevin A. Henry, Naomi F. Burke, and 3 grandchildren. Visiting will be Saturday, February 17 from 12-4 PM at the O’Brien Funeral Home, 2028 Hwy 35 at New Bedford Rd., Wall. A Funeral Service will be held 1PM at the funeral home, followed by a masonic service and fireman’s service. Military honors will conclude the visitation at 4 PM.
