Obituary for Mickey Gallagher
Mickey (nee Chambers) Gallagher, 83, of Wall Twp. and a lifelong resident of Belmar passed away Thursday, February 8, 2018 at Jersey Shore Medical Center, Neptune.
Born Kathleen M. Chambers to the late Francis M. and Mary Ellen Dyer Chambers, “Mickey” as she was fondly called by all who knew her, was born in Newark and had resided in Belmar for most of her life before moving to Wall Twp. 15 years ago.
She was employed in the Cafeteria at St. Rose High School for many years along with her late sister Eileen McMorrow. They were known and loved by generations of local families whose children attended St. Rose Schools.
Mickey was a devout Catholic and active in St. Rose Parish, Belmar. She was an avid Yankee fan and enjoyed playing Bingo. Despite all of her community interests her primary activity she undertook was the raising of her large loving family.
She was predeceased by her parents, her beloved husband John P. Gallagher in 1999, her daughter Susan Gallagher at the age of 3, and her 2 sisters Eileen McMorrow and Patricia Iannuzzi.
Surviving are her devoted children and their spouses Jack and Pamela Gallagher of Neptune City, Michael Gallagher of Wall, Mary Ellen and Joseph Zajack of Neptune City, Eileen and Arsbon Johnson of Neptune, Patricia and Brian Noto of Wall, her sister Bette Horvath of Brick, her brother Frank Chambers of Randolph, and her 9 grandchildren Jessica, Tara, and Kevin Zajack, Timothy, Katherine, and Ryan Gallagher, Kyle and Jordan Johnson and Carlie Noto and her 3 great grandchildren Emilia and Jack Notaroberto and Joseph Juliano.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the visitation on Tuesday, February 13, 2018 from 4:00pm until the time of the Funeral Service at 6:00pm at the O’Brien Funeral Home, 2028 Hwy 35 at New Bedford Rd., Wall. Private interment will be in the Gallagher plot in St. Catharine’s Cemetery, Sea Girt.
In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Way, Memphis, TN, 38105, donation envelopes will be provided at the funeral home on Tuesday.
