Obituary for Jane A. Lowe (Merkle)

Print
Jane A. Lowe, born August 12, 1922, died February 13, 2018, age 95 ½ and one day.
Widowed for many years, she was the beloved daughter of Regina McCarthy Merkle and Eugene Merkle (deceased).
Most loving mother of Kathleen R. Fahey (daughter) the now retired training instructor after ten and a half years at our area Petsmart of whom she was most proud and the very special “Loving Mom” to Rob Whitaker, her five in one son-in-law (son) with whom she had many day talks, laughs and adventures.
Jane is also survived by her beloved long-time companion Okie, now 13 years seven months, her black and gray toy poodle of whom she was most devoted; “grand dog” Teddy, apricot toy poodle, 12 years 2 months; also recently retired store mascot and furry training assistant of nine years to his mom Kathleen at our area Petsmart.
Jane was very “special buddies” with Louise Kovach (now 100 years) last May for over 40 years, her downstairs neighbor and “very special friend” with whom they worked the coffee hours , rummage sales and special events at the club house where they lived.
That was in-between their own outings together. Good times. Another special person in Jane’s world is Mary Ann Kischbaum (Louise’s daughter) who is our own very special “Ms. Fixit” and that special sister to Kathleen that she never had.
She worked in the Bank in East Orange, NJ working with contometers at the bank on the 6 a.m. to 2 p.m. shift with her fellow co-workers. She loved it.
Born in Newark, NJ. Residing in Newark and also Brielle, NJ for many years before moving to Florida to take care of her parents.
Ms. Lowe was also a Rosarian at St. Denis Church, Manasquan, NJ, where her daughter Kathleen went to school. She was also a Rosarian at St. Jude’s Cathedral, Fl, many years where she attended mass. She also attended mass at Holy Cross on 54th Avenue with her daughter Kathleen and Rob as it was close to Kathleen’s work.
There are also special cousins in Georgia and Edison, NJ.
The cousins in Georgia are called Aunt Patti and Uncle Dick by Kathleen.
Their names are Dr. Richard K. Noles (professor in agriculture) and Patricia McCarthy Noles (his wife). Their children (cousins) Stephen, Stephanie, Cindy and Patrice.
The cousins in Edison, NJ are: Marlene and Alan Schmidt; their children (cousins) John and Suzanne.
Jane also leaves behind many other friends with whom she worked at the coffee hours, rummage sales and played bingo.
She was a resident at Clearview Oaks at Kenneth City, Fl since 1974.
To all of you a special thank you for your friendship, caring and love to our mother over the years.
And special love to Carolyn and Dick Laneau for their many visits with mom the last three years and our buddy Bob, too.
And special remembrance to the deceased Linda Davis who helped take such wonderful care of mom during her broken hip recovery.
And to many others we may forget our hearts and love say, thank you.
The family of Jane.
Love and farewell to our “New Star in Heaven”. We’re watching over you, our “Very Special Lady”.
