Through the lighting of a memorial candle, your thoughtful gesture will be recorded in the Book of Memories and the proceeds will go directly towards helping ensure that the family and friends of Linus Rhoades can continue to memorialize, re-visit, interact with each other and enhance this tribute for future generations.

Obituary for Linus L. "Lonny" Rhoades

Linus L. "Lonny"  Rhoades
Linus L. “Lonny” Rhoades III, 68 of Spring Lake passed away Friday, March 9, 2018 at Jersey Shore Medical Center, Neptune after a brief illness.
Lonny was born in Neptune and had lived in Brielle, and then in Spring Lake Heights before moving to Spring Lake in 1982.
He was a renowned Shore area mason contractor, operating Lon-Jon Construction, Spring Lake for over 40 years.
Lonny was well known around the Shore area and was a member of the Manasquan Elks Lodge # 2534 and Manasquan VFW Post # 1838. He was a Communicant of St. Catharine’s Church, Spring Lake.
He was predeceased by his mother Dorothy Davis and his in-laws James and Anne Crines.
He leaves behind to mourn this tremendous loss his devoted wife of 43 years Karen Crines Rhoades, his 5 beloved children Jonathan M. Rhoades and wife Tarin of Wall Twp., Catherine A. Rhoades of Wall Twp., Patrick J. Rhoades and girlfriend Morgan McDonough of Lake Como, Jillian E. Rhoades of Spring Lake Heights and Stephanie C. Rhoades of Spring Lake, his 2 grandsons Gavin and Oliver Rhoades, his step sister Nora McCormick and husband Michael of Howell, his loving brothers and sisters in law whom he adored, Susan and Tom Burrus, Amy and Tom Szymanski, Jim and Karen Crines, Michael and Joan Crines, Bob and Karen Crines, Stephen Crines, Elizabeth and Joe Capone and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the visitation on Wednesday from 4:00pm to 8:00pm at the O’Brien Funeral Home, 2028 Hwy 35 at New Bedford Rd., Wall. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Thursday, March 15, 2018 at 10:30am at St. Catharine’s RC Church, 215 Essex Ave., Spring Lake. Please go directly to the Church on Thursday. There will not be a procession from the funeral home prior to Mass. Private Cremation will follow.
In lieu of flowers the Rhoades family specifically requests donations be made to Manasquan VFW Post # 1838, 30 Ridge Ave., Manasquan, NJ 08736. Envelopes will be provided at the funeral home on Wednesday.
