Edward A. Keating, 77, loving husband, father and grandfather, of Lake Ridge, Toms River, passed away on Tuesday, March 20, 2018.
Eddie was born and raised in West Brighton, Staten Island, and graduated from Curtis High School. He began his career as a Police Officer with the NYPD in 1962 and was assigned to the 5th Pct. in Chinatown. He retired in 1977. He moved to the Jersey Shore in 1998 and found great happiness fishing at Island Beach State Park. He was a simple man who was devoted to his family.
Eddie was predeceased by his parents, James and Marie (Darcey) Keating, as well as by his siblings, Jerry, Denny and Larry Keating, and Peggy Horan. He is survived by his beloved wife of 19 years, Gayle (Presslaff), and by his daughter, Patricia Keating. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Kayla and Jared Pestreich, his sister and brother-in-law, Barbara and Richard Jacoby, of Florida, nephews and nieces, and other relatives and friends.
Visitation will take place at O’Brien Funeral Home, 2028 Hwy. 35, Wall, on Sunday, March 25, 2018, from 1-5 PM, followed by a funeral service at 5 PM. Cremation will take place privately. In lieu of flowers, donations in Eddie’s memory may be made to NY Police & Fire Widow’s and Children’s Benefit Fund, PO Box 26837, NY, NY 10087.
