Obituary for Frances Potter

Frances Potter, 88 years old, of Atlantic Highlands passed away peacefully on Wednesday, March 21, 2018.

Frances was born and raised in Brooklyn, New York, the seventh daughter of John and Irene (nee McVay) McNamara. She lived in Chappaqua, New York, Ridgefield, Connecticut, and Tucson, Arizona, before moving to various Jersey Shore communities where she spent the next 40 years of her life -- taking walks along the boardwalk whenever she had the chance. A woman of considerable beauty and style, Frances had a real knack for decorating a lovely home, and enjoyed purchasing and selling antiques. She was an avid reader (especially mysteries), had a terrific sense of humor, and loved fun -- there was never a party that did not greatly benefit by her presence.

Frances is survived by her granddaughter, Rebecca McNally (Brandon) Keehn, her great-grandsons, Bodhi and Whitman Keehn, her daughter-in-law, Christine Holland, her loving niece, Sister Maureen D’Auria, her dear and longtime friend, Peggy Hoang and her family, and many nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her sisters, Irene, Margaret, Winifred, Rita, Grace, and Regina, her husbands, Jerry McNally and Rich Potter, and her sons, John Matthew (“JM”) and Gerard (“Roddy”) McNally.

In accordance with Frances’ wishes, there is no viewing. Cremation took place privately. The details for a memorial Mass will be announced in the future. O’Brien Funeral Home, Wall, New Jersey, is in charge of the arrangements.
